Recovery & Aftercare
CoolSculpting requires no downtime. The treated area may be red, swollen, tender, or numb for 1–2 weeks. Some patients experience a tingling, stinging, or cramping sensation that resolves within days. Temporary firmness in the treated area is normal. Results develop gradually over 2–3 months as fat cells are eliminated. A second treatment may be recommended after 2–3 months for optimal results.
Risks & Side Effects
Common side effects include temporary numbness, redness, bruising, swelling, and tingling. A rare but serious complication called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) can cause the treated area to enlarge instead of shrink. PAH is more common in men and occurs in approximately 0.05% of treatments. It requires surgical correction.
